High Availability with CloudFront Origin Failover
You can use Lambda@Edge functions with CloudFront distributions that have origin groups by specifying the function in an origin request or response trigger during cache behavior setup; in this configuration, the Lambda function may be triggered twice for a single viewer request—once when CloudFront sends a request to the primary origin (on a cache miss) and again if the primary origin fails and CloudFront sends the request to the secondary origin.
