AWS Fundamentals (awsfundamentals.com, the AWS Fundamentals newsletter, books and courses, and the AWS Fundamentals pages on social networks) is operated by Volpicella Alessandro & Schmidt Tobias GbR. This policy explains which personal data we process, why, and what rights you have under the GDPR.

The website is hosted on Amazon Web Services (Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, Luxembourg) and delivered through Amazon CloudFront. When you visit a page, the servers process technical data such as your IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer and user agent. We need this to deliver the site and keep it secure (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Logs are deleted automatically after a short retention period. AWS may process data in the USA; transfers are covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

We use PostHog (PostHog Inc., data stored in the EU) to understand how the site is used. Requests are proxied through our own domain. Without your consent, PostHog runs in cookieless mode and only receives pseudonymous usage data. With your consent via the cookie banner, PostHog may set cookies to recognise returning visitors (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, § 25 (1) TDDDG). You can withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie banner.

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your email address and, if provided, your first name to send you the newsletter and occasional offers for our own products (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). We use Kit (ConvertKit LLC, USA) to send emails and to measure opens and clicks. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email. We delete your data once you unsubscribe, unless we are legally required to keep it.

Our signup forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA (Google Ireland Limited) to prevent automated signups (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). reCAPTCHA evaluates data such as your IP address and browser behaviour. The Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

Books and courses are sold through Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy LLC, USA), which acts as merchant of record and processes payment and billing data under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email address and order details to deliver the product and provide support (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). Invoice data is kept for the retention periods required by German commercial and tax law.

If you email us, we process your message and contact details to answer your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them when they are no longer needed.

We use the LinkedIn Community Management API to retrieve aggregated statistics for our own AWS Fundamentals LinkedIn Page (followers, page views, post impressions and engagement). This data is used only internally to evaluate our content. We do not use it to profile individual members, and we do not sell or share it. You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach.
